Writing my own managed hosting platform - Deploid

As a developer, creating a hosting platform has been a challenging but rewarding experience. In this development blog article, I'll share some of the key lessons I learned along the way.

The first lesson I learned was the importance of determining the type of hosting platform I wanted to create. There are many different types of hosting platforms, each with their own set of benefits and drawbacks. I chose to create a managed cloud hosting platform, as it offered greater scalability and more flexibility than other types of hosting like shared hosting.

The next lesson I learned was the importance of identifying my target audience. I wanted to create a hosting platform that was tailored to the needs of individuals and small businesses, so I focused on features and pricing that would appeal to this audience.

Choosing a hosting provider was another key consideration. There are many different hosting providers to choose from, and it's important to choose one that offers the features and pricing that align with your target audience and business goals. I ended up tailoring my platform to be able to run on any provider that allows for Linux based servers.

Setting up the hosting platform itself was a process that required a lot of planning and coordination. It was important to thoroughly test everything to ensure that the platform was reliable and secure independant of the platform it runs on.

Overall, creating a hosting platform has been a challenging but rewarding experience. It's been a great opportunity to learn more about the different types of hosting and how to tailor a hosting platform to meet the specific needs of my target audience. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow and improve my hosting platform in the future.
